The new site in Maharashtra would be in Raigad district, which is about 100km south of Mumbai, India's financial capital. Initially, the refinery was proposed to be built at Nanar, a village in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, about 400km south of Mumbai. Saudi Aramco and Abu Dabhi National Oil Co (ADNOC) will together hold 50% stake in the 60 MTPA refinery and an adjacent 18 MTPA petrochemical complex. Aramco and ADNOC will have the marketing rights for half of the fuel produced by the planned $44-billion refinery, but they cannot export without first offering the fuel to local companies.
